The Effect of EVA and MVA on Stock Return with Firm Size as a Moderating Variable in Consumer Cyclicals Sector Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange Period 2021-2024

Financial performance signals are critical for investment decisions, yet prior evidence on Economic Value Added (EVA) and Market Value Added (MVA) remains inconsistent. This study examines the effect of EVA and MVA on stock returns and the moderating role of firm size in consumer cyclicals companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2021-2024. This study uses a quantitative approach with secondary data from financial reports and capital market data of consumer cyclicals companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (2021-2024). Data were analyzed using panel data regression, with the Random Effect Model (REM) selected as the best fit based on the Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests. Firm size's moderating effect was tested using MRA at a 5% significance level. The results show that EVA has a negative and significant effect on stock returns (coefficient = −0.005660; probability = 0.0000). Firm size has a positive and significant effect on stock returns (coefficient = 0.053414; probability = 0.0141). The interaction between EVA and firm size is significant (coefficient = −0.001527; probability = 0.0400), indicating that firm size significantly moderates the EVA–stock return relationship. Conversely, MVA and its interaction with firm size show no significant effect on stock returns. In conclusion, EVA significantly and negatively affects stock returns, MVA has no effect, and firm size positively and directly affects stock returns while weakening the signaling role of EVA, without moderating MVA's effect.

The Effect of Environmental, Social, and Governance Disclosure on Firm Value with Earnings Management as a Moderating Variable: An Empirical Study of the ESG Quality of 45 IDX Kehati Companies on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (2019-2023)

The growing emphasis on sustainable business practices has made Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure a strategic tool for shaping corporate legitimacy and market perception. This study examines the effect of ESG disclosure (aggregate and partial) on firm value and investigates earnings management as a moderator. Grounded in Legitimacy Theory and Agency Theory, this causal-quantitative research uses panel data regression. A purposive sample of non-financial firms consistently listed on the ESG Quality 45 IDX KEHATI index from 2019-2023 yielded 18 companies with 90 observations. Hypothesis testing employed the Fixed Effect Model after satisfying classical assumption tests. Results show that aggregate ESG disclosure and each pillar (environmental, social, governance) positively and significantly enhance firm value. Conversely, earnings management directly reduces firm value and significantly weakens ESG’s positive effect. These findings confirm an entrenchment strategy, where managers exploit high sustainability disclosure to conceal earnings manipulation. This information asymmetry fosters market skepticism, perceived as greenwashing, which destroys credibility and eliminates valuation premiums. Thus, companies and regulators must align sustainability transparency with earnings quality integrity.

The Mediating Role of Transparency and Accountability in the Relationship Between Financial Reporting Quality and Financial Performance at the Directorate General of Taxes of the Republic of Indonesia

Effective fiscal governance and public trust rely significantly on the financial performance of key state institutions like the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP RI). This performance extends beyond revenue collection to encompass the quality of financial reporting, which underpins transparency, accountability, and sound policy evaluation. To investigate these linkages, this study employs a quantitative correlational design to analyze the relationship between financial reporting quality and DJP RI's financial performance, with transparency and accountability as mediators. Data were gathered via questionnaires from auditors of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI), whose independent expertise ensures credible evaluation. Analysis using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS indicates that financial reporting quality directly and positively influences financial performance, with accountability serving as a significant mediator. In contrast, transparency does not exhibit a significant mediating role. It is important to note that this research is limited to DJP RI and does not incorporate other potential determinants of public sector financial performance.

Dualism of Authority in Digital Account Inheritance Monetisation Between Sharia and Technology: An Islamic Inheritance Law Approach Based on Maslahah Mursalah

The rise of digital technology has created novel forms of wealth, exemplified by monetized accounts such as those on YouTube, TikTok, AdSense blogs, and online marketplaces that generate passive income. This study investigates the legal status of such digital monetization assets within the framework of Islamic inheritance law, assessing their classification as inheritable wealth based on economic value, utility, and transferability. Employing a normative juridical method with a qualitative Maslahah Mursalah approach, the research analyzes conflicts between Sharia-based inheritance rights and the restrictive ownership policies of digital platforms. Findings indicate that while platforms often control account access, the associated economic benefits constitute legitimate inheritance. The principle of Maslahah Mursalah is applied to prioritize communal benefit, ensuring income continuity for heirs, preventing familial disputes, and safeguarding economic rights. The study proposes a Syariah-Technology authority reconstruction model, which emphasizes the inheritance of benefit rights, the appointment of a digital executor, and the synchronization of payment systems. This model seeks to harmonize Islamic legal principles with existing platform regulations. Consequently, the research provides a jurisprudential foundation for inheriting digital assets and offers practical solutions to the legal and technical challenges posed by the digital economy.

The Effect of Independent Commissioners, Liquidity, and Information Asymmetry on Earnings Quality with the Audit Committee as a Moderating Variable

A key metric for evaluating corporate financial performance is earnings quality, which denotes the trustworthiness of accounting information for decision-makers. However, practical factors like governance flaws, financial standing, and information gaps between managers and outsiders can affect this quality. This underscores the significance of studying what shapes earnings quality and how the audit committee might strengthen relevant influences. Utilizing panel data from 80 technology sector companies on the IDX, this quantitative study examines drivers of earnings quality. It assesses the effects of commissioner independence, liquidity, and information asymmetry, while also testing the audit committee's potential moderating influence. The regression outcomes, however, present a clear dichotomy. A significant impact is solely attributable to liquidity. The purported effects of commissioner independence, information asymmetry, and the audit committee (both directly and as a moderator) are found to be statistically insignificant. Further, moderated regression analysis (MRA) confirms that the audit committee does not strengthen or weaken the influence of the other three variables on earnings quality. These results, derived from descriptive, assumption, and regression testing, point to a key conclusion: successful corporate governance is determined less by its formal framework and more by how effectively it is practiced.

Analysis of the Indonesia–EFTA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE-CEPA) to Enhance Indonesia’s Export Market Access

International trade plays a crucial role in Indonesia’s economic growth through exports and imports. However, challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, non-tariff measures (NTMs), and protectionist policies hinder Indonesia’s export performance. Agreements like the Indonesia-EFTA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE-CEPA) facilitate market access to EFTA, a region with high purchasing power. This study analyzes the effectiveness of IE-CEPA in enhancing Indonesia’s exports while identifying challenges and optimization strategies. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, data collection methods include interviews and literature studies. The findings indicate that IE-CEPA eliminates tariffs by nearly 100% for various Indonesian products. Additionally, the agreement reduces non-tariff barriers and provides special schemes for MSMEs. With its extensive trade network, EFTA has the potential to serve as a gateway for Indonesian products into the European market, strengthening competitiveness, exports, and investment. Despite EFTA’s high purchasing power, Indonesia's market share in the region was only 0.29% in 2018. Following the implementation of IE-CEPA, exports to Switzerland, Iceland, and Norway increased, while the trade deficit with Liechtenstein persisted. Products such as jewelry, coffee, and footwear successfully entered the Swiss market, whereas palm oil and motor vehicles have yet to show significant export growth. This agreement plays a strategic role in enhancing Indonesia's global competitiveness.

Corporate Political Funding in India: An Empirical Study about Corporate Donations, Foreign Donations & Electoral Bonds

India has distinct laws and regulations that govern and direct corporate charities or donations to political parties including foreign donations. The Companies Act, 2013, the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, inter alia, regulates donations to political parties. In the last decade, India has witnessed several amendments pertaining to corporate’s political funding have raised many questions, mainly after the Supreme Court judgment of Feb 15, 2024 striking down the Electoral Bonds Scheme. This literature review, legal analysis and empirical research based paper, intended to address issues related to corporate donations, foreign funding to political parties and Electoral Bonds. It is an attempt to understand why companies donate to political parties, is there any need to limit donations. It also aimed to check the validity of the Electoral Bonds and influence of foreign donations to Indian political parties on the Indian political autonomy. It is concluded that the companies are incorporated to make profits and hence there should be a limit on donations and such donations should be decided by shareholders and not by the directors. Foreign funding may influence political autonomy and policy making, hence it should be restricted. The Electoral Bond Scheme, being opaque, should be removed. This paper aimed to help governments and its legislative members in making laws and policies using the limited evidences collected by a survey of 100 Respondents in India in 2020 about Indian laws related to corporate’s political funding, although it addresses a global concern about political donation.

The unlimited flow of trade in goods and services requires fast and accurate delivery services that can be tracked through online tracking. Goods delivery often experiences delays, overloading, and accidents. This affects the performance and compensation received by employees from each delivery. The aim of this research is to investigate how compensation and work-related accidents impact the performance of goods delivery at PT. Sicepat Ekspress Indonesia, with hazard operability study serving as a mediating factor. Through the use of a quantitative approach, data was collected using questionnaires from 95 participants. The findings indicate that compensation plays a crucial role in influencing work accidents, hazard operability study, and the performance of goods delivery employees. In addition, work accidents are also proven to have a positive and significant effect on hazard operability study and employee performance. Other findings indicate that hazard operability study has a significant effect on goods delivery employee performance. Thus, all tested variables have positive and significant relationships according to the proposed hypotheses. From an Islamic perspective, these research findings align with the values of tauhid and trade ethics that emphasize the characteristics of shiddiq, amanah, fathanah, and tabligh as foundations in conducting business. The application of these ethics is believed to improve service quality, customer satisfaction, and loyalty. Therefore, providing appropriate compensation, managing work accident risks, and implementing hazard operability study not only affect employee performance improvement, but also align with muamalah principles in Islam that prioritize honesty, justice, and mutual benefit.

This study aims to analyze the influence of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on investment risk at PT Sariguna Primatirta Tbk (CLEO), a company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2023 period. The research is motivated by the fluctuations in the company's stock prices and environmental controversies that could affect its reputation and investor trust. GCG is measured by institutional ownership, managerial ownership, independent commissioners, and the audit committee, while CSR is evaluated using indicators from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI-G4). Investment risk is assessed through the beta coefficient based on the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM). This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data from financial statements, annual reports, and sustainability reports. The analytical method used is descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings reveal that the implementation of GCG and CSR significantly influences the reduction of investment risk. Managerial ownership and consistent CSR initiatives positively contribute to company stability and investor confidence. These results emphasize the importance of internal company policies in mitigating systematic risks and fostering investor trust.

This study examines how Green Accounting and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) implementation affects the financial performance of energy companies traded on Indonesia's stock exchange between 2019 and 2023. The research was prompted by environmental concerns and weakening financial results in the sector. Using quantitative analysis through panel data regression on eight selected companies, the study measures Green Accounting via the PROPER index from Indonesia's Ministry of Environment and Forestry, evaluates CSR disclosure through GRI G4 standards, and assesses financial performance using Return on Assets (ROA). The Random Effect Model analysis (conducted in Eviews 12) reveals that Green Accounting and CSR together significantly improve financial performance (F-statistic: 8.255; significance: 0.001). When examined individually, CSR demonstrates a substantial positive influence on ROA (coefficient: 0.255; significance: 0.0003), whereas Green Accounting fails to show statistically significant effects (significance: 0.7639). The research concludes that CSR implementation is vital for improving financial outcomes, but Green Accounting has not yet demonstrated measurable direct benefits. Consequently, the study recommends that energy companies focus on enhancing their CSR reporting transparency while developing more effective environmental cost management approaches.

This research aims to uncover how a consumer goods company's commitment to social responsibility impacts its overall worth, particularly by examining the mediating role of financial performance, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA), within Indonesian-listed companies between 2019 and 2023. The analysis is conducted using a quantitative approach with a sample size of 12 companies. The data collection method utilized is purposive sampling to select samples for analysis. 60 analyzed secondary data points were extracted from annual reports and company sustainability statements. Panel data regression and path evaluation are used in the current research. The investigation findings showed that both return on assets and social responsibility contribute positively to the value of a business to a certain degree. The presence of Corporate Social Responsibility has a favorable influence on Return on Assets, and at the same time, both Corporate Social Responsibility and Return on Assets have a beneficial impact on Company Value. Furthermore, Return on Assets does not act as a mediator for the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility on Company Value.

Fiscal decentralization involves shifting financial administrative powers from national to regional governments with the goal of improving local financial management efficiency and fostering balanced, long-term economic development. This research investigates how fiscal decentralization influences regional economic development across the districts and municipalities of Riau Province between 2017 and 2021. The study examines four explanatory variables representing fiscal decentralization components: General Allocation Fund (DAU), Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH), Special Allocation Fund (DAK), and Local Government Revenues (PAD) within Riau's regencies and cities. Economic growth serves as the outcome variable of interest. The research utilizes panel data methodology covering all regency and city-level administrative units in Riau Province over the five-year period, with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) selected as the analytical framework. The research findings indicate that among the fiscal variables examined, only the General Allocation Fund (DAU) demonstrates a statistically significant positive relationship with economic growth. The other three components—Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH), Special Allocation Fund (DAK), and Local Government Revenues (PAD)—do not exhibit significant effects on economic development.Based on these results, the study recommends maximizing the effectiveness of General Allocation Fund utilization and enhancing the quality of regional expenditure strategies to bolster economic performance across Riau's administrative regions during the fiscal decentralization period.

The purpose of this research is to investigate how the combination of entrepreneurial expertise and self-confidence impacts the success of small and medium enterprises owned by millennials in the food industry in DKI Jakarta. The study also examines how motivational factors within these businesses can influence their overall success. The research utilised a quantitative method by sending out surveys to 150 participants. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with SmartPLS was used to analyse the data. The findings suggest that entrepreneurial expertise does not greatly impact business success, but self-belief has a meaningful and beneficial influence. Additionally, the drive to succeed in business is shown to play a role in linking self-belief and entrepreneurial knowledge to business success. These findings highlight that in the context of food sector millennial MSMEs in DKI Jakarta, internal factors such as self-confidence and business motivation are more critical to achieving business success than entrepreneurial knowledge alone. The goal of this research is to aid in the creation of strategies for empowering small and medium-sized enterprises, with a focus on bolstering the mental well-being of entrepreneurs in order to improve their competitiveness and boost local economic advancement.

The Effect of Company Size and Debt Ratio on Financial Performance of Bank Sub-Sector Companies Listed on The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2020–2023

The main goal of this research is to gather empirical data on how the size and debt levels of companies affect their financial performance in the banking sector of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2020 to 2023. Regression analysis with a quantitative approach was used as the research method, focusing on company financial statement data. The research sample was deliberately chosen using purposive sampling. 36 banking sub-sector companies that fit the research criteria were selected as the samples for this study. The results suggest that the size of a company has a notable impact on its financial performance, as shown by a t-value of 2.425 exceeding 1.987 and a significance value of 0.017 below 0.05. This indicates that the t-value exceeds the threshold set by the t-table and the significance value is below 0.05. Therefore, hypothesis (H₁) is confirmed, while H₀ is invalidated. In contrast, the level of debt a company holds does not significantly influence financial performance, as evidenced by a t-value of -1.410 < 1.987 and a significance value of 0.162 > 0.05. This means that hypothesis (H₂) is not supported. However, it is noted that both the size of the firm and the debt ratio do have a significant impact on financial performance, with an F-value of 3.612 surpassing 3.103 and a significance value of 0.031 falling below 0.05, leading to the acceptance of hypothesis (H₃). This study proves that the size of a company has a key influence on its financial performance, while the debt ratio alone does not have a noticeable effect. Nevertheless, when tested simultaneously, Firm Size and Debt Ratio jointly have a significant influence on Financial Performance.

Potential for Developing Sharia Financial Products for the Agricultural Sector in Ponorogo

Ponorogo Regency, a predominantly agrarian area in East Java, faces significant challenges in agricultural financing. Most small-scale farmers rely on informal lenders due to the inaccessibility of conventional financial institutions, which often impose strict requirements and inflexible schemes. This study explores the potential of Islamic finance as a fair and sustainable alternative for agricultural financing in Ponorogo. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through literature review, field observations, and in-depth interviews with farmers, BMT/LKMS managers, and Islamic banking representatives. The findings reveal that Islamic financial products such as qardhul hasan, mudharabah, and musyarakah have been positively received by farmers due to their alignment with local socio-religious values and their equitable, non-interest-based mechanisms. However, implementation remains limited due to low Islamic financial literacy, restricted institutional outreach, lack of stakeholder coordination, and the absence of risk mitigation tools such as agricultural takaful. To maximize the potential of Islamic finance, the study recommends improving financial literacy, strengthening BMTs and Islamic cooperatives, developing community-based financing models, and fostering synergy among stakeholders. With proper support and policy alignment, Islamic finance can play a key role in empowering farmers, enhancing food security, and promoting rural economic resilience.

Exploring the Roots of Ibn Khaldun's Islamic Economic Thought and Its Impact on Historical Development

Ibn Khaldun's economic thought, as expressed in his monumental work Muqaddimah, has significantly contributed to the development of Islamic economic theory. His insights into the role of the state in the economy and the concept of asabiyyah (social solidarity) have influenced both historical and contemporary economic ideas. This study explores the origins of Ibn Khaldun's economic theory and analyzes its impact on Islamic economics, with a focus on its relevance in modern economic contexts. A qualitative descriptive method is employed, utilizing literature review of primary and secondary sources. The findings highlight that Ibn Khaldun’s ideas on asabiyyah, state regulation of the economy, and governance during the Abbasid and Ottoman periods shaped economic policies. Moreover, these principles remain pertinent in today's economic discussions, particularly in understanding the state's role in fostering economic stability and social solidarity. This study suggests that Ibn Khaldun’s economic thought offers a valuable foundation for creating inclusive economic policies and business strategies, particularly in contexts marked by significant socio-economic disparities. Ultimately, Ibn Khaldun’s theories provide a framework for integrating solidarity-based principles into modern economic practices to promote equity and social cohesion.
